GAINESVILLE--The Buchholz Bobcats came focused as they clawed their way to victory against the Columbia Tigers, 14-5. The Bobcats (9-4) went into the game on a two-game winning streak. As for the (3-8) Tigers, the struggle was real.

The first inning was close as both teams went scoreless. The beginning showed flashes of their previous matchup in the first week of the season.

Great pitching and defense on both sides led the Bobcats to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Same teams, different story, as the Tigers took a short lead with senior Josh Boyette delivering an RBI going into the middle of the second inning.

With two runners on base, Bobcats senior Kyle Macalindong stepped to the plate. On the second pitch, he sent the ball out of the park for a three-run homer. The highlight play put the Bobcats on top, 3-2 in the second inning.

That play was the deciding factor of how this storyline would play out for the rest of the game. The Tigers brought the game close with sophomore Cal Gilliam pitching some scoreless innings. This led the Tigers offense to bring the game with in one, led by sophomore Jamie Minchin and junior Cole Frier.

The fifth inning is where the Bobcats put their foot on the gas and did not let up. Hunter Ruth showed the promise of a homerun slugger on the first swing of the at-bat. His two-run homer raised the score, 7-4.

Buchholz did not let up after that hit. Ruth contributed to the score again with an RBI and others scored as well. The Tigers scored early in the sixth inning to bring the score to 11-5. Although, it was a little too late as the Bobcats protected their home field, earned three more runs and overpowered the Tigers to victory.
